Year 6: Bowling

Beached Themed Reading Cafe
Wow, what an incredible day we had at our beach-themed reading café! A massive thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a fantastic success. It was truly wonderful to see so much fun, laughter, and, most importantly, a clear passion for books filling the room!
Year 6 Leavers Service
This week (before their transition days) year 6 came together with other year 6 classes from within the area for collective worship at St George's in Chorley. Some of the children were even brave enough to perform at the front, and answer questions on the microphone in front of a large audience!
Online Safety - Nintendo Switch 2

Year 6: Maths - Theme Park Challenge
In maths year 6 have been working collaboratively to design their own theme park bringing together aspects of maths and English that they have learnt throughout the year. They have been working out how much it costs to run the park, as well as how to make sure that their theme park will be profitable.
Year 6: Science
This week in science, year 6 have been looking at inheritance. We studied which features that we all have may be inherited, and looked at similarities and differences between members of the class. L.O: To recognise the inheritance factors for plants and animals.

Despite YouTube Kids’ safeguards, reports have highlighted worrying issues, such as inappropriate content slipping through filters, subtle advertising, and the use of manipulative design to keep children engaged. Our guide explores how to navigate these pitfalls, offering practical advice for making sure children get the most from the platform – without the risks.
Year 6: English
Year 6 have been writing a story opening, which creates tension and builds atmosphere for the reader. We focussed on including action, dialogue and description as a hook to grab the reader's attention immediately. L.O: To write an effective opening to a narrative (modelled write).
Forest School Training
Forest School learning is an inspirational and specialised approach to outdoor education that focuses on developing confidence, self-esteem, and holistic growth in learners through hands-on experiences in natural environments. This week our teachers have been on a Forest School adventure. Learning all the different skills to become Forest School leaders. Bringing back to school the philosophical understanding, practical skills, and confidence to unlock the vast educational potential of the outdoors, ultimately creating richer, more engaging, and more beneficial learning experiences for our pupils.
Year 6: Maths
After our main maths lessons, year 6 have been enjoying working on their mental arithmetic by playing dice games. They have been recognising number bonds at speed to try and win the game.
