Year 6 Pre Sats Webinar
Year 6 recently benefited from an engaging online webinar hosted by Kooth, which provided them with helpful strategies to support their emotional wellbeing in the lead-up to their SATs next week. The session proved to be a valuable experience, offering reassurance and validating their feelings by highlighting that many students share similar experiences.
Year 6: English - Creating and Effective Flashback
Year 6 have enjoyed creating a success criteria together, and trying to include these language features in their independent writing. They are telling the story, through use of flashbacks, of a titanic survivor.
Year 6: English - Flashback Narrative.
In English today, year 6 have developed their plot for their flashback narrative. They will be re-telling the experience of being on the Titanic as it sank, from the perspective of a survivor many years later.
Safety on the Road
Staying safe on our roads isn’t just a skill — it’s a lifelong habit. It is crucial to learn key strategies for helping children navigate streets safely and confidently, from practising journeys together to teaching them how to choose the safest crossing points. We’ve collaborated with THINK! to offer real-world advice on issues like the dangers of parked vehicles, reversing cars and mobile phone distractions — it’s an invaluable tool for parents and educators who want to help young people travel independently without compromising their safety.
Year 6 Grammar - Semicolons.
This week year 6 are focussing on using semicolons to separate two independent clauses. We have been working on this following the I-Model structure, and hopefully will see some correct examples in their upcoming independent writing.
Year 6: Computing
In computing this week year 6 have started planning their 'text adventure' game, that they will create in a few weeks time. They thought about the choices a character would have to make, and the consequences of these choices on game play and the overall story. L.O: To use 2connect to plan a text adventure.
Year 6: English - Inference Skills
In English year 6 have been using their inference skills to make predictions about our new novel Kensuke's Kingdom. They have analysed an extract from the text, and written Point, Evidence, Explanation paragraphs to explain their thinking. L.O: To make justified inferences based on a text.

Year 5/6 Sports for Champions
Year 5/6 joined together to do sports for champions. The children learn all about Tumbling and meet Alisha Evanson the world Champion. Alisha did a workout with the children and showed them her bronze, silver and gold medals.
Year 5/6 Holi Festival
Year 5/6 looked at the Festival of Holi, also known as the "Festival of Colors," which is a Hindu festival celebrating spring, love, and the triumph of good over evil - marked by the throwing of coloured powder and water, bonfires, and feasting. We created artwork using oil pastels and had lots of fun.
