Today, our young historians took a deep dive into Ancient Egypt by learning all about the fascinating process of mummification. From understanding the ritual steps to learning about the purpose of canopic jars, the children were absolutely captivated. Safe to say, we have some future archaeologists in our midst. Year 3 have been diving deep into Religious Studies this week, exploring how personal faith has the power to change history. The children have been focusing on the life of Mother Teresa, looking closely at how her deep beliefs transformed her from a young teacher into a globally recognised symbol of compassion. Through their lessons, the pupils investigated how her faith gave her the courage to leave her comfortable life behind to serve the poorest communities in Calcutta. The class had some fantastic discussions about how inner convictions can drive people to make a lasting difference in the world, prompting the children to reflect on their own values and how they can show kindness in their daily lives.

Science in Action: Water Transportation Investigation Year 3 have been putting their scientific inquiry skills to the test this week as they investigate how water travels through plants. To make this invisible process visible, the classroom has been transformed into a colorful laboratory. Using celery stalks and vibrant food dyes, the students set up a classic transpiration experiment. By placing the stalks into coloured water, they are able to observe how the plant's internal systems—specifically the xylem—pull moisture upwards against gravity.

Hands-On Maths: Market Day in Year 3 Our classroom transformed into a bustling marketplace today as Year 3 students put their money skills to the test. Each student designed their own shop on their whiteboard, complete with a variety of items and price tags. Using a collection of coins, students took turns acting as both customers and shopkeepers. This activity provided a practical way to practice: Identifying coin denominations. Calculating totals for multiple items. Determining the correct change to give back after a transaction.

Budding Scientists at Work! Our Year 3 class has officially launched their latest scientific investigation. We are diving into the world of botany to answer a central question: How does the amount of water affect how a plant grows? The children have been busy planning their experiment, ensuring it is a "fair test" by: Standardizing Conditions: Using identical seeds, the same type of soil, and placing every pot in the same sunny spot. Controlling the Variable: Carefully measuring out different specific amounts of water for each plant to observe the differences.

Years 3 and 4 Easter Service
Years 3 and 4 have worked so hard lately, practising words, songs and actions, in preparation for presenting the Easter Service at Church. And what a fantastic service it was! They told the Easter story with passion, respect and a lot of talent and enthusiasm! It was enjoyed by all who saw it.
