Year 2 PE: Writing Yoga Stories

Year 2 have been using this half-term's yoga learning to create their own yoga flow in the form of yoga stories. Using previously learnt yoga poses, the children created story maps to sequence their flow. Some of the yoga stories included "hungry lions", "seals trapped on boats" and "very calm butterflies". Miss Mulligan was incredibly impressed with the creativity and leadership skills Year 2 showed during this lesson!

Game, Set, Match! Our Year 5 athletes brought the heat to the court today for our final Get Set 4 PE badminton session! It was the perfect end to the unit as the pupils combined their footwork, grip, and tactical thinking into some high-energy competitive matches. We were so impressed by: Perseverance: Keeping those rallies going even when the pressure was on! Precision: Some truly fantastic serving to start the points strong. Sportsmanship: Cheering on teammates and officiating with fairness. Seeing all those skills click into place during match play was the highlight of the term. Way to go, Year 5!

By creating unique shapes and mastering the art of the rock and roll, the pupils are gaining confidence in their spatial awareness and safety. It was wonderful to see them persevere through the more difficult balances—their effort was outstanding.

Y1 - PE - Developing Balance When Holding Poses

The Year 1 children have been working hard in PE this week, focusing on their balance and control as part of our Get Set 4 PE curriculum. We’ve been exploring how to hold different poses with stillness and purpose, which is trickier than it looks! It was great to see their persistence—even when a pose felt a bit wobbly, they kept trying until they could hold it for a count of five. These activities are fantastic for building core strength and body awareness, all while having plenty of fun in the process.

Year 5 PE - OAA: Teamwork Challenges!

Mission Impossible? Not for Year 5! Our PE lessons have been all about teamwork this term! We’ve been putting our communication skills under the microscope with some tricky "Cooperation Challenges." From describing complex equipment layouts to partners who couldn't see them, to the nerve-wracking "Skipping Rope Bridge" football roll, the children have had to be assertive and patient. These tasks were incredibly tough, but the buzz of excitement when that football finally reached the end was amazing! We are so proud of the grit and collaborative spirit on display. Who knew PE could be such a brain-teaser?
