Year 4 P.S.H.E. - Human Machines
Year 4's P.S.H.E. topic is all about working together. This week's lesson challenged Year 4 to work as a 'Human Machine', in an effort to show collective working to complete a simple task. It was slightly trickier than expected, as some tasks were rather abstract and needed all in the group to take part and have some part in the machine process. The outcomes were pretty impressive! Year 4 demonstrated great ability to work together and become a real-life human machine!
Year 4 Science - Leaf Hunt and Classification Keys
Year 4 have been looking at, 'Living things and their Habitats' in our Science lessons. We have learnt how to group things by using classification keys and selecting relevant questions to help do this. In our Science lesson this week, we put our knowledge to the test by collecting leaves from the school grounds on a leaf hunt, and then worked in table groups to help classify the different leaves we had found.
Year 2 Art - Artists are Explorers and Collectors
Artists are Explorers and Collectors! Our Year 2 artists took their learning outdoors this week to discover how nature can be transformed into art. Inspired by artists who collect natural materials, the children explored our school grounds to gather a wonderful variety of leaves, twigs, pebbles, vibrant flowers, and berries. Working with fantastic focus, they carefully considered shape, colour, and texture to design their own temporary masterpieces. The children worked so hard on their compositions, experimenting with patterns and arrangements to bring their natural treasures to life. Year 3 - Art - Gestural Drawing With Charcoal
This term in art, our Year 3 class is stepping away from tiny sketches at their desks and taking on a high-energy, large-scale creative project using charcoal. Instead of just using their fingers and wrists, the children will be using their whole bodies—stretching, sweeping, and moving to create bold, dynamic marks across huge sheets of paper. By tapping into rhythm and movement, they’ll explore how different gestures create different textures and tones, and the results are looking truly extraordinary!

Year 3 - Science - Sources of Light
This term, our Year 3 mini-scientists are rolling up their sleeves and stepping into the lab to explore the fascinating world of light and shadows. We’re really focusing on practical, hands-on learning, giving the children a chance to ask big questions, test out their own ideas, and figure out how things work firsthand. It’s always a hugely popular topic, and we can’t wait to see their curiosity take off as they get stuck into some brilliant classroom experiments.
Reception-Maths-Counting
Reception have had fun this week playing an engaging maths game where they practised identifying numbers and counting colorful fish to find the correct match. The children counted each fish one by one, showing brilliant focus as they matched the quantities to the corresponding written numbers. They also worked well learning how to take turns to use the spinner and choose a number.
Year 4 English - Making Predictions
This week, Year 4 have been immersed in a variety of clues to gain insight into our vehicle text, before reading. We have examined pictures and artifacts to make sensible predictions about the story, based on what has been presented. Year 4 have some detectives in the making!
Year 4 Maths - Place Value
Year 4 have been demonstrating their number skills this week. Using resources such as their Chromebooks, Base 10 and place value charts, they have been learning about place value and have been working with numbers up to 5-digits!
Year 1 -PE - Exploring Balance and Landing Safely
Year 1 have had a great PE lesson today. We have been practicing balancing, jumping and landing safely. We added some extra challenge by doing this from a height. The children really embraced the challenge and demonstrated some great skills.
Year 6 - Art - Scaling up Drawings
How can focusing on the space around an object help bring a 2D drawing to life? Inspired by the iconic life-sized cut-out figures of artist Lubaina Himid, Year 6 have been exploring how flat shapes can transform into interactive art. Using reference silhouettes of animals like cats, lions, and dolphins, the children put their observational skills to the test by studying negative space to accurately map out shapes. They applied the grid method to scale up their chosen images square by square, carefully transferring pencil outlines with accuracy and confidence onto a larger scale.

Year 5 PE - Dribbling and Passing
Year 5 had a great PE lesson today. We have been practicing dribbling the ball and passing correctly. We added some extra challenge by incorporating their skills into an invasion game. The children really embraced the challenge and demonstrated some amazing skills.
Nursery And Pre-School - Maths - Categorising Objects
Our nursery and preschool children have been diving into early mathematical concepts this week with a vibrant, hands-on activity at the light table! The illuminated setting provided a captivating backdrop for multi-layered learning as the children explored colour, size, and counting. The children began by categorising glowing coloured blocks and translucent splats by colour, matching and grouping similar shades. From there, they put their counting skills to work by building colorful rainbow towers, carefully counting each block as they built higher. As the towers grew, the children explored height and spatial vocabulary, working together to identify which structures were the shortest and which were the tallest. To solidify their understanding, we supported the children in using this new mathematical language in short, complete sentences—such as "This red tower is the tallest!"—helping them connect physical play directly to clear mathematical thinking.
