This week in RE, Year 2 have been learning the story of Jesus healing the blind man. We explored the miracle of how Jesus restored the man's sight and discussed why this caused a stir with the Pharisees. We talked about how the Pharisees were cross because Jesus had performed the healing on the Sabbath, which was meant to be a strict day of rest.
To help us understand the story better, we used blindfolds to experience what it might be like to lose our sense of sight. This helped the children reflect on how the man might have felt before he met Jesus and why the miracle was so life-changing. The children showed wonderful empathy and had some very thoughtful discussions about kindness and following rules.
